FROM THE DIAMOND TO LEADERSHIPMAJOR LEAGUE JOURNEY

John Valentin’s remarkable career began at Seton Hall University, where he played alongside future MLB legends Mo Vaughn and Craig Biggio. Drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 5th round of the 1988 MLB Draft, he made his MLB debut in 1992.

During his 11 seasons with the Red Sox and New York Mets, John’s versatility and leadership shone through. His standout achievements include:

  • Silver Slugger Award (1995): Recognized as one of the league’s top offensive shortstops.
  • Rare MLB Milestones: Hitting for the cycle in 1996 and executing an unassisted triple play in 1994.
  • Career Stats: A .279 batting average, 124 home runs, and 558 RBIs.

After retiring as a player, John transitioned to coaching with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, where he honed his skills in mentorship and strategy. This unique combination of on-field success, coaching experience, and financial knowledge makes John the ideal leader for NEFN’s Sports Division.
